WHAT IS A NURSE
a person trained and licensed in nursing matters and entrusted with the care of the sick and carrying out of medical surgicalroutines under the supervision of a doctor. In addition, the nurse is concerned with the patient's response to the problem, providing nursturing and protection in a way that promotes health. Registered nurses often specialize, as in anesthesiology or surgery, and nurse practitioners can provide espanded care and perform many of the duties of a physician, including prescribing medcations. Practical nurses, on the other hand, are not nusrsing school graduates and can provide limited nursing care.
